JNU work to establish MBA program overseas


From November 29 to December 8, delegations from Jinan University, lead by the Vice President's Rao Min paid a visit to Cambodia, Myanmar and Sri Lanka. They visited the local overseas Chinese groups, alumni organizations, well-known universities, foreign institutions, educational cooperation and Chinese embassies. They introduced JNU`s features and advantages, explored new paths of running education programs in foreign countries. Members of the delegation include responsible persons from the School of Education, the School of Management, the Office of Academic Affairs, the Office of International exchange and cooperation.

During the visit in Cambodia, JNU delegation met with Fang Qiaosheng, the chairman of Cambodia Jiahua Group, to talk on the possibility of co-establishing educational institutions in Phnom Penh.

Fang Qiaosheng hoped to co-establish a Science and Technology School, with the consideration of local market, flexible course modules, mode and multi-levels of education programs. Rao Min expressed that this meeting had enhanced the willingness of cooperation on education programs, reached by JNU president Hu Jun and Fang Qiaosheng in April, and helped to discover more about the market needs and conditions.



JNU established Myanmar Chinese MBA program, which is the first offshore MBA program hold by Chinese Mainland University. JNU delegation had a meeting with Sir. U Nyan Tun U, the first students of Myanmar Chinese MBA program, also was the Vice-Chairman of the Myanmar Engineering Committee, the former Minister of the Ministry of Power and Industry of Yangon. And he was conferred the title of  Myanmar Alumni Association Honorary President of Jinan University . U Nyan Tun U expressed his gratitude for this program as well as the honor, and the dedication to the development of Myanmar`s development. JUN delegation also visited other Myanmar alumni and Myanmar Chinese Chamber of Commerce.


In Sri Lanka, the delegation visited the University of Colombo, Association of Sri Lanka and Chinese Relations and the Federation of Overseas Chinese. Professor Dissanayake, the principle of the University of Colombo met with Rao Min, negotiated about exchange programs between each other and planned to reach to a MOU. Ambassador of Association of Sri Lanka and Chinese Relations, Mr. Abeysekera, demonstrated the condition of cooperation in education between China and Sri Lanka, and expressed his willingness to recommend more high quality students to study in JNU. While the Federation of Overseas Chinese welcomed JUN delegation, and discussed about the possibility of co-establishing education engineering, tourism management training program and MBA.


JNU delegation also visited Chinese Embassy in Cambodia, Myanmar and Sri Lanka, which enhanced the cooperations and communications along the line of the “One Belt One Road”, and showed JUN`s responsibility as the top Overseas Chinese higher education institution to contribute the construction of the “One Belt One Road”.
